INVESTING IN FANCY VIVID YELLOW DIAMONDS

All diamonds are rare but some more than others. While fancy color diamonds account for less than 1% of all diamonds, some fancy colors are rarer than others. For example, red diamonds are said to occur in less than 1% of all fancy color diamonds. The least rare of the fancy colors are yellow, and even these diamonds come in a variety of shades.

Fancy colored diamond specialists Leibish & Co. made an in-depth analysis of whether Fancy Vivid Yellow diamonds make a worthwhile investment.

Leibish analyzed the performance of Fancy Vivid Yellow diamonds compared to various markets, large companies and other major commodities that are commonly invested in, including silver, gold, platinum and oil.

The fancy colored diamond specialist company also found that fifteen Fancy Vivid Yellow diamonds have been sold at the Christie’s and Sotheby’s auction houses at a value of over $100,000 per carat over the last decade. These diamonds varied tremendously in size from a diamond of VS2 clarity weighing just over 5 carats to a record breaking pear shaped diamond that topped 110 carats.
