According to a Bloomberg report quoted by IDEX Online, De Beers has raised prices of its larger stones “by as much as 10%” at its 5th Sight of the year, which opened this week in Gaborone, Botswana, IDEX Online reports.

The Bloomberg report rests on sources that claim that De Beers has increased prices of rough diamonds over 2-carats by up to 10%, and that “the prices of some smaller goods are also up”.

In January, De Beers’ sales enjoyed a three-year high, peaking at $663 million. In February, the mining giant sold diamonds to the tune of $550 million. Sales in Match fell further, totalling $450 million. Provisional sales for May totaled $380 million.
