The construction of the Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) is complete and India’s newest diamond exchange will officially launch in the spring of next year, “around March or April 2023,” according to Diamond World.
The Bourse will cover 35.54 acres and house 4,500 offices spread across approximately 600,000 square meters.
In a letter from mid-November, Vallabhbhai Patel, Chairman of the SDB Project and owner of Kiran Gems informed the members of the Bourse that the government had granted permission for the Bourse to become operational and that “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been invited to inaugurate the bourse.” He also urged members about “negative people in the market” that want to “damage the precious image of the Surat Diamond Bourse”, adding that members “should ignore rumors about pending work or about project delays or fears about it not being successful. “
