Lucara Diamond has concluded its 12th Exceptional Stone Tender. The tender, which included ten diamonds ranging from 40.4 carats to 472.37 carats (totaling 1,453.06 carats) raked in $32.48 million – 22,356 per carat.
The tender included two diamonds greater than 300 carats. A 327.48 carat diamond sold for $10.1 million. All ten tendered diamonds sold for more than $1 million each. Finally, four diamonds sold in excess of $3 million each. To date, Lucara has sold 168 diamonds in excess of $1 million each, and ten single diamonds for more than $10 million. The average price per carat for Karowe diamonds sold this year to date is $893.3.
The company’s Eira Thomas stated, “Lucara is very pleased with the outcome […] the quality of Karowe’s large diamonds continues to attract the attention of the world’s foremost manufacturers and diamantaires with 29 companies attending the sale and 8 individual companies winning lots […]”.
