Mountain Province Rakes In $76 Million in Q2 2022

Mountain Province Diamonds, which together with De Beers operates the Gahcho Kue mine in Canada’s Northwest Territories, has reported revenue of $76 million for the 2nd quarter of the year, “the second highest in the company’s 36-year history,” according to a report in IDEX Online.

Mountain Province sold 586,763 carats in Q2 2022 – up 16% quarter-on-quarter. Average price per carat totaled $130, reflecting an “unprecedented price growth.”

In a statement, the miner said: “The rough diamond market continues to experience strong demand supported by solid US retail results. Further support to the market is anticipated from jewelry retail in China as Covid restrictions ease in that country.”
