KPCS DELEGATION VISITS ISRAEL DIAMOND EXCHANGE

A Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) delegation arrived this week in Israel as part of a review of the Kimberley Process.

 

On Tuesday (June 27), the delegation visited the Israel Diamond Institute (IDI) and met with IDI Chairman Shmuel Schnitzer .

 

At the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE), delegation members toured the Trading Hall and met with IDE President Yoram Dvash. The delegation also visited the Diamond Museum and the IDE’s new Manufacturing Center.

The meeting at the IDI was attended by IDI Chairman Schnitzer, Israel’s Diamond Comptroller Shmuel Mordechai and his deputy Sigal Shidlovsky, IDI Managing Director Eli Avidar, and the WDC legal counsel as well as the WDC Secretary Udi Sheintal.

 

At the meeting, the delegation was informed of the activities of the IDI and the assistance given by the IDI in the implementation of the Kimberley Process in Israel. The meeting strengthened the positive cooperation between the KPCS and the rough trade industry in the country.

 

Israel is the first country to receive a Kimberley Process Certification in 2003, and the first country to be review by a KPCS delegation – a review concluded successfully.
