Minister of Science and Technology Ofir Akunis visited the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) last Thursday (June 29). He was hosted by Israel Diamond Institute (IDI) Chairman Shmuel Schnitzer.
“I spoke to the minister about the recent state of the industry, including the challenges we’re facing”, Schnitzer said after the visit, “The minister toured the new Diamond Tech Innovation Center at the bourse, showed great interest in the technological aspects of our business, and received demonstrations from the staff about the different devices”.
Akunis also visited the Trading Hall, where he was informed on diamonds and the diamond trade. He then toured the Diamond Museum for the first time, and showed interest in the polishing machines exhibited there.
The minister also visited the Israel Precious Stones and Diamonds Exchange, where he was hosted by the President of the exchange Shlomo Eshed.
