GAHCHO KUE EXPECTED TO “MEET OR EXCEED” PRODUCTION TARGET FOR 2017

After releasing production results for the second quarter ended June 30, Mountain Province Diamonds says it now expects that the Gahcho Kué Diamond Mine will “meet or exceed its full-year 2017 production guidance”, according to IDEX Online.

Gahcho Kué is owned by Mountain Province (49%) and De Beers (51%). It began commercial production on March 1, and the second quarter represents the first full quarter of commercial production for the mine. According to the report, Mountain Province’s “attributable share of second quarter diamond production was approximately 791,000 carats”.

David Whittle, Interim President and Chief Executive Officer, said: “Given the strong plant performance and our favorable grade experience to date, we remain confident we will meet or exceed our full-year 2017 production guidance”.
