HONG KONG’S JEWELRY SALES UP 5.2% IN Q4 2017

Numbers released by the Census & Statistics Department of Hong Kong and quoted by Rough & Polished show that jewelry retail sales in Hong Kong rose 5.2% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2017. Total sales reached HK$ 75.05 million (USD 9,585,386).

 

In December 2017, there was 5.8% growth in value and 4.3% growth in volume terms compared to November, boosted by a strong show in December. Sales of jewelry, watches and other valuable gifts rose year-on-year 6.3% in December, “the sixth consecutive monthly increase”, according to the report.

 

The Hong Kong Retail Management Association (HKRMA) said in a statement that “its member companies remain positive on the sales and estimate single-digit growth performance in January-February 2018”.
