LETSENG DOES IT AGAIN: GEM DIAMONDS RECOVERS 169-CARAT DIAMOND

The big rocks just keep on coming: Gem Diamonds has announced the recovery of a 169 carat, top white colour Type IIa diamond from its Letšeng mine in Lesotho – the seventh diamond of over 100 carats recovered in 2018, and the second such diamond this month.

Earlier this month, Gem Diamonds announced the recovery of a 152 carat, top white colour Type IIa diamond from Letšeng.

It’s been a busy week for the miner, as Gem Diamonds also announced that the Lesotho Legend – an exceptional quality 910 carat D colour Type IIa diamond recovered from Letšeng in January 2018 – was sold for $40 million on tender in Antwerp on March 12. The Lesotho Legend is the fifth largest gem quality diamond ever recovered.
