The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has announced that under its Proprietary Cut program, GIA lab clients can now get the branded name of the proprietary diamond cut, along with the diamond shape and cutting style description, on their GIA grading reports.
According to the GIA, clients that want to participate in this program will be required to provide supporting documentation, including diamond facet arrangement. The new service is offered at no additional charge.
In other news, the GIA and Hong-kong based jeweler Chow Tai Fook recently announced a partnership to use blockchain technology in order to “deliver secure, digital diamond grading reports to consumers for the first time”, according to a press release.
