PARIS: TWO INDIAN DIAMOND TRADERS ROBBED IN METRO STATION

Two Indian diamond traders were robbed Monday last (February 26) of precious stones worth 300,000 euros ($370,000) while they were entering a Paris metro station, according to multiple news sources.

 

The two traders, who were coming back from a business meeting, were carrying a bag with several precious stones, but no diamonds. The robbery, which according to police looks premeditated, took place at the entrance to a metro station in the central Ninth Arrondissement of Paris.

 

The last high profile jewelry robbery in Paris happened in January of this year, when five people, armed with axes, raided the prestigious Reza jewelry boutique at the Ritz Hotel in Paris on January 10. The thieves walked away with approximately 4.5 million euros ($5.4 million) worth of jewels. Three of them were caught and charged with the robbery.
