Peggy MacSween, 86, never thought she’d see her wedding ring again. Now, 50 years later and thanks to a determined neighbor, she has been reunited with the precious jewel, IDEX Online reports.
MacSween, a resident of the remote Scottish island of Benbecula, lost her ring in the 1960s years ago while gathering potatoes. She was shaking the sand out of her gloves after the job was done, and it was then that the ring fell. MacSween tried to find it but failed.
Her neighbor, Donald MacPhee, recently decided he would look for the ring with a metal detector. According to the report, “he spent three days digging up a field on the Outer Hebridean island of Benbecula, and unearthed the ring.” An excited MacSween told the BBC: “He just came to the door and said: ‘I have something to show you’. It was the ring. I couldn’t believe it, but there it was. I thought I would never see it again.”
