Sotheby’s Goes Crypto for Next Hong Kong Auction

Sotheby’s Hong Kong has announced that it will receive payment in cryptocurrency from bidders at the “Diamonds: The Dazzle” auction on September 24, Rough & Polished reports.

The highlight of the sale is a 177.51-carat Harry Winston diamond necklace.

The auction house, according to the report, “is now accepting payment in Ether, Bitcoin or USD Coin.” In July, an anonymous buyer bought a 101.38-carat diamond for $16.4 million in cryptocurrency during Sotheby’s Luxury Edit sale series in Asia.
