Zimbabwe has been elected unopposed as The Chair of the Kimberley Process in 2023, IDEX Online reports.
According to the report, Zimbabwe ran unopposed, and “there were no objections to its appointment at KP plenary five-day hybrid in-person and online event.”
World Diamond Council (WDC) President Edward Asscher, who spoke during the Closing Session of the 2021 Kimberley Process (KP) Plenary on November 12, expressed “cautious optimism” by “the KP’s constructive discussions,” especially as concerning KP’s Declaration on Supporting Principles for Responsible Diamond Sourcing as Best Practices.
